Carolyn Remmey, USPAP—2011

 PRINCIPAL APPRAISER, REMMEY ANTIQUES & FINE ART

Earning a Bachelor of Science degree at the University of North Carolina, Carolyn Remmey went on to study the post-graduate curriculum at Univ. of Toronto, NYU, Newark Museum, and Winterthur. She is a USPAP compliant member of the Appraisers Association of America.  She founded Remmey Galleries in 1988 where she employed all her knowledge in appraising and auctioning.  From there she was then strategically charged with the Trust and Estates Department and as Principal Auctioneer of Phillips International Auctioneers/New York. She also served as a specialist with a newly founded e-commerce company, which innovatively offered expert evaluations of art, antiques and collectibles on the web. Presently, Carolyn Remmey is steering her Antiques and Fine Arts appraisal and estate-consulting firm in the New York tri-state and southern Florida areas.

Remmey Antiques & Fine Art, specialists in “downsizing,” conducts thorough and comprehensive appraisals for estate taxes, equitable distribution and insurance purposes.  They manage private and public estate sales and referrals to International auction houses, having had experience as an associate of Sothebys.com.  Carolyn has been an active member of numerous  Historical Societies and Museums in New Jersey, New York, and Florida – The Newark Museum, the Montclair Art Museum, Macculloch Hall Historical Home, the Norton Museum of Art in Palm Beach, Florida, the Ft. Lauderdale Art Museum, the Key West Art and Historical Society, and Winterthur to name a few.

With Remmey’s persistent efforts to educate in the field of antiques and auction services, Carolyn has lectured throughout New Jersey and Florida and is a charter guest appraiser on the popular PBS television program Antiques Roadshow for numerous years. She is a devoted speaker and auctioneer for various lecture groups and charitable causes, such as The Boys and Girls Club, Make A Wish Foundation, Valerie Fund, Cancer Care, Next Step Foundation, Solomon Schecter School, Homeless Solutions, Inc. Also in and educational effort, Carolyn Remmey has dedicated her time to lecturing, publications and the media. She has been a guest lecturer for Bloomberg/New York, as well as US Trust, Glenmede Trust, Merrill Lynch, Rutgers University, Ft. Lauderdale Historical Society, Key West Art and Historical Society, NJ Bar Association, the Great Atlantic City Antique Show, and many notable NJ libraries. Remmey has contributed articles to the newspapers “The Antiques and Arts Weekly”, “The Antiques Guide”, “The Independent Press”, “50 Plus”; to the magazines “Antique Roadshow Insider”, “New Jersey Woman”, “Art and Antiques”; and the web sites AntiquesAmerica.com, and chubbcollector.com.  She has produced and hosted her own cable television show, “Treasures”- TV 36, Summit, NJ and has appeared as a guest appraiser on “Antiques Roadshow”, The History Channel, “Trash and Treasures” — Fox  Channel 7, Miami, Florida,  Remmey Antiques and Fine Art client list includes many notable mentioned above and the Woody Guthrie Foundation, Rizzuto Estate, Frelinghuysen Estate,  Fairleigh Dickenson Estate.
